Palm Tree Rhythms

Posted on February 12, 2011 by Carol Steinberg

oil, 8 x 8

I’m not sure what I want to paint next and I could start to use this as an excuse. I started to paint the view from my porch and then I thought, no, the light is going to change too fast. And then I thought, just DO IT! So I did. I often fantasize painting this view, expecially at twilight. There are bands of color but they shift in minutes. Still, eventually I’m going to try to capture that. This was a start.

I like the abstract rhythm of the palms. If I had more room I could have shown the curve, like a necklace of palms.

I went to a Chinese New Year celebration today and had some free Chinese food. It’s the year of the rabbit and supposedly an easier year–although there will be digestion/lung issues. Yeah, tell me about it!
