Rose Sketches

Posted on February 23, 2011 by Carol Steinberg

This is kind of a combo of the two previous Daily Paint Works Challenges–the 10 minute paintings and the single rose. I was having a little resistance to painting and this seemed like a good solution for now. Better to paint a number of quick studies than labor over one piece or do nothing. I wished I’d started earlier in the day. I told a student last night that his problem was that he was thinking about it (drawing) rather than just doing it! He was trying so hard not to make an error that he wasn’t allowing himself to even experience the process. I just teach what I need to learn.

I’m reading Shameless–maybe subconsciously it influenced what I chose to paint.
