I liked the set up from yesterday, so I decided to re-visit it by getting closer to the flowers–a study. That’s what I’m liking about painting every day…it makes it more about study than product and the product winds up better too. I didn’t drop this one! For those of you who seem interested in the weather here, it’s supposed to rain for the next 5 days…so I took this opportunity to set up on the porch for maybe the last time this week and paint these flowers…it was cloudy but not cold and not raining.
Love your work and the way you work. This challenge has been something else.
I love your work too. It certainly has!
I especially like that you seem to paint mainly from observation. I do paint from photo references at times, but nothing makes me grow like really being in the scene.
Thanks, Anne, I’m glad you see that and I completely agree about growing from painting from life…it’s funny I had a friendly argument about this with my bf (he doesn’t paint) the other night, but it was almost 1 am so we let it go. I think too many people paint from photos without realizing that it’s a completely different experience.
Your talent is exquisite. Is it difficult doing a painting a day? How long does it take you?
Thanks much Joanne. In some ways it is difficult, but in some ways it is easier than not doing it. It depends on the size of the painting–and there’s choosing/creating the set up, and clean up and photo/photoshop/posting after–so it is making it hard to get much else done in the day…but I’m committed to it for this month…and after, even if I slack off a bit, I hope to be more on than off. The painting time itself can be anywhere from one to several hours if it’s a very small piece.
Carol, I’m visiting from the UBC again. Your piece today is another very lovely painting!
I really love your painting. How can you turn out such beautiful things every day? I am in awe. The light and shadows and textures of the flowers really pop in this gorgeous piece of art.
Thank you Amy! It took me a long time to get to this place…but it’s nice to be here where people like you appreciate it.
Carol,
This is my first visit to your blog. I am inspired by you creating a painting a day. Your work is beautiful.
Thanks Kimberly!
