Well, here we go again…Didn’t we start on January 2 last time? To be strict about it, it seems to me this painting “should” be painted today…but since our fearless leader put up a piece that is “sold,” I sort of doubt that happened today…painted, up and sold…all on New Year’s Day, no less…yes, she probably could pull it off, but let’s be real. So, this piece….was the last of my inspired month of rose paintings that I did after I wound up with a car load of show roses. December 3 to be exact. And then I just stopped, especially posting and blogging and regular painting…so easy to do, unfortunately. I don’t even know why exactly. For me, it certainly has nothing to do with holidays. (Oh, I just realized…the next day my boyfriend’s parents rolled into town for a month…and basically appear to have succeeded in their mission to destroy our relationship. Okay, maybe too personal. And yes, I’m sad.)
Back to the painting. I wanted to paint glass and also the last of these roses. The weird green thing on the right may look like foliage but there was a guy at the rose show who proudly proclaimed it to be “an English Rose.” I just googled this and found nothing…okay. It kind of looked more like a pom pom than a rose. Painted on a warm December day in LA, in the sun on a white table.
I do hope to paint today… Looking forward to the journey…..knowing there are some things that may interfere, but in good faith and good company, we soldier on.
Happy New Year Carol, and yes, here we go again. Love the freshness of your rose! Looking forward to seeing your work this month.
Same to you and yes, looking forward to seeing yours too. Thanks!
