This painting was so much harder than it looks. I was inspired the day before when I saw my set up in the late afternoon when the sun was no longer illuminating it. The purple cloth was so much purpler. I started drawing it in with a brush…and since I have not been doing that lately, pretty soon the whole thing was brushwork. Bert did not think it was working as well as the day before’s painting or my more recent work in general…also, the bird’s eye perspective on the vase was tough and I was having some problems with it. The whole thing was becoming frustrating…but I attempted to save it…over and over. One precious thought I had while doing this, is that I am all right as long as I make improving my craft the goal…whatever else happens, happens, but if I try to make something happen or wait for something to happen…I just get lost. This is a more subtle light, a bluer light…and I went into a bit more detail with the sweet peas. It still has that 4th of July vibe to it.
