I have painted this bougainvillea plant that has been living on my porch for decades a few times, mostly 20 years or so ago. The color of bougainvillea in light is so stunning but there is no paint they have invented yet that can match it. I caught sight of it though this afternoon as I was debating what to paint and thought I’d be brave and give it another go. I thought I was going to have to scrape this one because the lighting was making it appear strange and I was losing light, etc., but actually once I took it in and photographed it, I was happy with it–and I’ll have to try it again sometime soon. It would be interesting to show you the one from 20 years ago, but right now I feel too lazy to mess with it. If there’s a big demand, I’ll re-think that.
