I have been looking at this view for 20 years and have painted it from time to time. I decided to go check on the most recent iteration before today’s and when I found it I was so flipped out by my progress that I literally flipped the older painting onto a wet canvas on the floor. Ugh! Luckily it didn’t do too much damage because the flipped piece was a small painting (which hopefully explains how I managed to accidentally flip it) but seriously?! Anyway, I’ve always loved the subtle gray variations on a gray day, which happens almost every morning in the part of LA I live in…a “marine layer” that usually quickly burns off, but was clearly not going to today so thought I’d take advantage of it and see what I could come up with. It’s quite a challenge, but at least I’m making progress.
Even your gray days are vibrant, Carol! Love your work… luscious invitation to enjoy the pleasures of paint!
I love this comment, Taline!
