Tomorrow starts the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge which I have participated in every time since its inception–so I think this is # 6. I admit I have been holding back on posting in order to be somewhat “ahead” and take the pressure off. Still, I’m looking forward to a little more pressure to paint as close to daily as possible. I actually painted a different bouquet today, but it won’t post for a week or so.. They are both inspired by a trip to the Santa Monica farmers market where I found this bouquet and the one I painted from today. I liked the analogous colors in this one…and the smell of the dill!
On a side note: Someone actually completely copied this and put it up on her Instagram account. I don’t think she acknowledged me–she was from some Asian country and the account was not in English. She was kind of young…so I don’t know….should I be flattered? The funny thing was she “liked” a bunch of other posts, but not the one she copied….and yeah, she’s “following” me. Maybe I should follow her to see how many more pieces she copies?!
Hello Carol. I started the challenge also. It is easy to post early since I live in Spain which is nine hours before California time. I was immediately drawn to your painting. Your obvious delight and knowledge of color is very enticing to my eyes and I appreciate your compositions. I think it is kismet that I clicked on your site as I was born in Santa Monica on Entrada Drive in the Canyon and later lived for years on Third Street, walking distance from the best farmer’s market ever, and here is your painting from a bouquet at the market. I will look forward to following you!
Hi Laurelle, Well, that is quite an advantage, lol! It’s wonderful to read that you enjoyed my painting and that it brought back fond memories. The kismet will be if I ever achieve my dream of visiting Spain and get to meet you!
I love this painting! I am Connie Snipes BFF who knows mothing about painting!
Well, if you love my painting, then you know something about painting! Who is Connie? and how did you find me?
What a wonderful painting! And I’m impressed and inspired by how you get multiple lovely paintings from each bouquet.
So sorry about your instagram friend. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but that’s pretty blatant, without a reference to your work.
Thank you–once I’m inspired I can just keep going–too bad they eventually die. She was not an actual “friend”–just someone who may be following me…and yes, I guess it’s kind of flattering–unless she sells hers and I don’t sell mine, lol.
