The title came about as a projection of some problems I’ve been having at work. I bought a book called The Bully at Work and they say 37% of American Workers have been bullied! Astonishing. It doesn’t feel good to be a Target and I wonder what I did to deserve all this aggravation. Then, again, I’m going to try to knock it out of the park when I’m evaluated by 4 different women, at least 2 of whom seem to me to have made up their minds without, mind you, ever having really spent any time observing me (or very little). Anyway, the pear on the right was shining more brightly than the one on the left, but the one on the left is “elevated.” It’s kind of nutty to make up stories about fruit but C. Marine does it, so what the hey? I got an unusual bump up on Instagram from this painting. Ten times the usual amount of new followers….and a lot of hearts! Was it the painting or the title? Life is just full of surprises. You just never know what to expect from people, be they your audience or your supervisor…sigh…
Beautiful painting, I love the impasto. So interesting about the Instagram results. It seems like it would have to be a visual thing, but the title is provocative. Further testing, maybe? Good luck at work, it sounds like a tough situation.
I’m looking forward to seeing your new direction. I’ve love your gorgeous flowers, they caught my eye early in September, but it’s nice to not feel trapped by a theme. It’s hard enough doing 30 paintings in 30 days!
Thank you so much, Bobbi, for all the wonderful comments. Instagram is a mystery, like so much else. Gotta run to said work–and yes, a very tough situation. I don’t like the idea of imposing a theme for these challenges–it seems kind of artificial, and I prefer to see where the work leads me…and what I feel excited about that day.
Well, Carol, sometimes when someone has a certain ‘peace’ about them, as artists tend to, others just can’t deal with it. Then there’s the whole tall poppy thing! I hope and pray this situation is resolved professionally and quickly; it’s so wrong!
Pears are way up there with my favourite fruit and I have a couple tormenting me in the fruit bowl right now as I wait for them to ripen. You have rendered these beautifully (as usual) and they certainly look good enough to eat. Keep sweet, my arty friend; you’re doing great!
Sharon
What kind and comforting words, Sharon–and it’s nice to be seen so clearly. Yes, the “peace” thing! I have also practiced yoga for over 30 years. It’s sad that people would not choose to be inspired rather than threatened.
