I just counted these:15 floral, 8 still life, 5 plein air, and 2 portraits. Please let me know which are your favorites. I guess now I take a break and figure where I want to go from here. I think I’m torn between wanting to do more developed work, like the first 3, and doing more studies more like the last 8. Maybe I will alternate? I have a serious situation going on at my job and ordinarily I’d feel like I just don’t have it in me to paint until that is behind me, but maybe that’s not the right idea. We’ll see. I had a whole weekend of non-art related activity planned and it all got cancelled…so suddenly have a free weekend. But there’s plenty to do. A little marketing is in order about now too. Thank you for all the generous comments. I really enjoyed this round of the challenge, even with all the juggling of vacation, work, etc. Grateful to have had the opportunity to participate once again.
Such a wonderful body of work Carol! I love your florals and the pears. Partial to those. So glad you participated, love seeing your work! Happy creating to you 🙂
Thank you, Sheila! You too and “see” you again soon!
My two cents: More portraits. Maybe it’s because there’s nothing that says more to the viewer than a beautifully captured moment in another’s portrait, reminding us of all our shared humanity. I don’t know. But you have that ability. Your skill at the still lifes is perhaps your best marketing tool because people seem to want those for their homes. I think you should also do some larger landscapes. Good luck with the work situation. Just remember, everything DOES pass and you will laugh at this one day!
Thanks, Laurelle. It’s interesting that you say that since I began with portraits, even as a child. I would love to do more–not quite sure what to do about getting models though….should figure something out. Yes, the still life and landscapes do seem easier to sell. And, the job, yes, it will work itself out one way or another and a sense of humor is a must!
Congratulations, Carol ! Beautiful work!
Thank you, Martine!
What a beautiful collage, Carol – reminds me of a tapestry as the colours are so consistent. Really good job!
Regarding models, do you belong to a church? You’d be surprised how many people would be complimented by your wish for them to sit for you and could let you take photos, especially if you explain that you need to practise.
Again, I pray your work situation improves dramatically; it’s so unfair! You could always jump ship and leave them to it as your artwork is already to a very high standard so 100% commitment to it may just work for you financially. Who knows?!

Thanks, Sharon! I think for now I’m good with using B or myself if I want to do a portrait. If anyone else volunteers or wants to commission me, that would be great.
Thanks too for believing in me!
