I see this little house as I leave the garage and I always find the shapes intriguing. The place has changed ownership and they changed it quite a bit but it still retains its funky little shapes. I am going to do an oil version too.
This isn’t by chance on Reeves, is it? I remember the little houses that seem to hold on to their identity amid the growing urbanisation of apartment complexes as if they are making their last stand for independence and freedom. You could call it “David among Goliaths.” Anyway, love it!
Palms, actually. Yeah, these little houses are very odd…and small inside. Many years ago I was house shopping but couldn’t find anything as nice as my apartment…and then I did, but stupidly refused to deal with giving less than 30 days notice to my landlord…and lost the place. Oh well. Thanks!
Carol, looking at your painting, I see the suburbs of Los Angeles, maybe close to where Marilyn Monroe was leaving.
I love this little gouache, the evocative feeling, the brave little house and the nice little patch of green in front of it !
I don’t think Marilyn was too close…but maybe. I know her grave is nearby. Anyway, thank you for your funny description! I think all of Los Angeles is somewhat “suburban” but this is actually directly in LA–NOT its suburbs.
Yes great shapes, love the negative space of the sky.
Thank you, Carol! I tried to comment on your blog…but ran into problems again.

This is a sweet little house, I love it!
Thanks, Sharon. Tried to comment on your blog but ran into a problem!

I am glad these little houses are surviving. They are a part of history. Even though they have almost no closet space. LOL. Wonderful work 🙂
