This month just flew by–with a mini-tantrum or two somewhere maybe week 3 or 4. Putting this collage together, I see it as a kind of ode to summer melting in to fall…The bottom right–Day1–was a fun oil pastel and the top left–Day30–is an acrylic gouache. Mixed in with regular gouache, oil, watercolor…I have acrylic and chalk pastels…but I did not use them. My fascination with the view I’m lucky to have increased enormously…and my neighborhood too…aptly named Palms–for real! So many kind, supportive comments. Thank you if you left any of them. And thanks for stopping by to see the end result. I’ve done this challenge 10 times…maybe I’m finally getting somewhere??
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, remembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.”
This quote from T. S. Eliot….hmmm, probably read it first at 17…pretty sure I did not appreciate it then…but now I see why he’s so famous…lol. Anyway, I’ve heard the first line quoted many times…but the rest is really lovely. Until we meet again. Carol.
Beautiful post and collage..never could figure PicMoneky. Glad you succeeded. One can definitely see the main theme running throughout. All the best and hope to see more posts!
Carol, believe me, I was just lamenting the non-user friendly nature of PicMonkey to my partner. I’ve done this almost 10 times (skipped it last challenge) and I still could never do it without his help almost every step of the way. I’m probably not going to post as much here for a time. Catch me on Instagram!
So great to see your work each day! I am sure you learned in the process…so did I! Thanks for your support and your love of creating ART!!! All the best to YOU, Sister Artist = )
Aw, thank you, Sue–it’s been great to meet you.
Carol, your work is beautiful!! I did not have a chance to visit as many blogs as usual, but I will be catching up on your posts. Lovely view indeed 😉 Congratulations on a spectacular month! Thanks for sharing the poem 😉
Oh, thanks for explaining, Sheila, and thanks for taking the time to visit. I also felt overwhelmed at looking at work of others in addition to painting and posting!
Exactly Carol. This year it was difficult to do it all. Even though I love visiting the artists 🙂
Beautiful collection and post. Thank you for sharing in this challenge with me, your art is inspiring and beautiful.
Thank you, Kyla–so nice to have your support and get to meet you and your work.
Congratulation for a great month, Carol!
Your collage is stunning ! Your palms make me dream.
Happy painting !
Are you dreaming of a vacation? You are welcome to visit!
I usually do not have the mind of a marketer, but I’m thinking you should go to the Palms City Council, if there is such a thing, or Culver City…and offer the idea of making a poster for the city with your paintings in this collage. They are interesting on their own, but, wow, gorgeous and truly impressive all together like this.
I have mentioned before that we are kindred spirits. Another proof. My first painting of this month I accompanied with a T.S. Eliot poem and the title of my art piece came from it. And here you end your month with this lovely poem by him. His words are timeless. Thank you for sharing them.
As to that darn PicMonkey…I got so frustrated and then saw “Free Trial” I almost blew a gasket. I make it as well as I could, then took a screen pic of it on my Mac and then cropped it.
Anyway, take a much needed break, and then I’ll be watching for your art on FB. I believe I’ve signed up on your site, but I don’t think I get much mail from it.
Thanks for the suggestion, Laurelle. I’m kind of in a non-marketing phase…although I do have a couple outdoor shows this month. I have an intermittent coach who suggested something similar. I didn’t realize that you had started the month with a T.S. quote…but maybe your poetic musings and quotes rubbed off on me by the end. Yes, the PicMonkey trial–a sign that life is getting meaner–no free lunches….and then we have ways to take it anyway…sad. I may not be taking a break just yet…although I did take the weekend off! Yeah, about the newsletter..see my second sentence above. Inertia has me in a direction of putting it off until tomorrow–and we all know how that goes. I will try to keep you in mind as my audience when I finally write another newsletter! I’ve kind of slacked off the FB too…hope it’s just a down trough of a wave…we’ll see.
