This is an attempt to stay in the game, even with the High Holidays and dental appointments. If I was shrewd, I’d get 4 out of this…but…I also intend to come back and try this again, both in gouache and oils.

Another Gray Morning
I did not plan this series…but I think it’s a good idea to keep going with it. More oils of my neighborhood to come. These are done on my porch. Unfortunately, there’s a squirrel that thinks it’s his porch….He flew by today despite my having sprinkled black pepper on the railings. Any ideas for how to convince him to move on, let me know. I have next door neighbors who think it’s a good idea to feed him peanuts…and we’re not on speaking terms so there’s no reasoning with them either.
Another Gray Morning
White House, Gray Morning
We went to the Pacific Palisades farmers market late in the morning…I tasted a heavenly nectarine…and then we got a $93 parking ticket! We did have a lovely late lunch…and then I snuck in this little gouache study. Stay tuned for an oil version of same scene since the gloomy skies continue.

Palms Sunset
I attended a little gouache workshop the other weekend…en plein air--again I say–not for the faint of heart. Besides it being 90 degrees, while approaching me the teacher started screaming–and not because of the state of my painting! She’d been stung by a bee!! Gouache is tricky…so I’m trying to practice before I abandon it altogether and all those wonderful little tubes of color dry up as is their wont!
Palms
So I have gotten out of “posting” on the blog mode…but the 30 in 30 may change all that. I had some GI issues that needed a lot of my attention for a while. Anyway, I have been creating art but not bothering with my website. You can see other work on my Instagram–https://instagram.com/carolsteinberg. This was a fun piece done with melting cheap oil pastels I’d talked my partner into giving to charity…lol…I did not know I meant myself at the time. There’s some gouache in there too. Hope to see new and old friends again during the challenge and beyond.
