Not sure why, but I haven’t posted anything in the last couple months. It’s like I hit some kind of wall. I was painting and drawing but not posting to my blog or FB…only IG. I’ve been having certain “health” issues and I guess this just sort of fell to the wayside. I’m going up to Los Gatos for a plein air invitational in a little over a week and I should have a lot of new paintings to post after that so I think I’ll get some of these I haven’t gotten to posting up first. This was an experiment in working larger. It was fun. What do you think? There are a few other large experiments that were done the same time frame…also not yet posted. The next ones spent a few days in an 18 million dollar mansion but apparently were too colorful for such a place…and they are much grayer than this one! Stay tuned.

I painted this last Thursday when I realized I had a free day for the first time in a long time and could paint if I wanted to…if I skipped one of my favorite yoga classes and a much needed mani pedi. I went to Whole Foods to pick out some flowers and had to return them when I arrived home to find them falling apart. But they made it right. And I got going. I hadn’t painted this large in a long, long time and I found myself wanting to use my brushes which I also have not done in a very long time. It all came back to me…only better after my time away. I had found a scarf at Whole Foods a couple weeks ago (can you tell I live there?) that bespoke all things autumn to me….and the colors of the season are inspiring me. Now if I could just find another free day. Last night my students asked what I do besides teach that one night a week. It’s hard to explain…but I find that there are many things that take up my time. Do you know what I mean?
