Groupon sent me an email with the subject line “Our Cat’s Recommendations” as I was painting this. Do you feel like Big Brother is watching you? I also saw an ad pop up on a pet portrait class. Coincidence? I don’t have a cat. In fact, I’m allergic. And maybe to painting them too. This “Snuggle” was a struggle! The mottled coat and dappled light really made keeping the form of the cat intact quite the challenge! This was inspired by the theme “hibernate”–which at first, as with many of the themes, I was like, “you’re kidding me, right?” but then I hung in there…because being forced out of my usual subject matter was good for me. And as long as Big Brother realizes that I do not in fact own a cat and never have and never will….all is well.
I’ve done this view many times over the years…and I’d like to do many more. I can definitely see progress.
I was pretty happy with my first eggplant piece this week so why not give it another go? This time with a big contrast of white garlic. I had someone on IG tell me she just made Babaghanoush so it may be “in the field,” LOL. That black of the eggplant is so fun to work with.
