Come To Bed

Come To Bed, oil, 6 x 6

Don’t ask how I came up with this title.  Anyway, it was a fun exercise.  I wish I’d done more of these when I was younger.  Does that make any sense?

Creamer, Fig, Blackberries

Creamer, Fig, Blackberries, oil, 6 x 6

The idea for this came to me as I was going to sleep last night.  I guess that’s what painting everyday without stopping will do to you.

Hot Pink Zinnia

Hot Pink Zinnia, acrylic, 6 x 6

I have tried to find the color of these zinnia in oils to no avail…so I thought I’d play around with acrylics because there is a tube that comes closer…but it’s still problematic…Any other color tends to dull the purple and make it gray….maybe it’s just not the best subject for oils…or acrylics!  Still, even approaching this wonderful color is fun.

Metal Creamer, Tomatoes, oil, 6 x 6

I’ve done this metal creamer a few times before several years ago–which makes it easy to see the improvement.

4 Tomatoes, Blue Vase, oil, 6 x 6

This is a real close up because the vase is really small.

Four Tomatoes, Low Bowl

Four Tomatoes, Low Bowl, oil, 6 x 6

I tried multiple arrangements for this, before coming up with this one.  Why is this so much harder than it looks?

Two Red Onions, oil, 6 x 6

Just an exercise in rounding up forms…and damn, the rim of the bowl is a challenge.
