I ran out of time and energy today, so it was back to basics. It’s really interesting to compare this to ones I did in previous challenges.
Another little study from the holiday. More paintings on the way! (I did a gouache of this first.)
I think this is the end of this bouquet, so I tried it without the wrapping paper. I added a creamer and a tube of red paint.
The title refers to both the subject and my attempt to scale back my ambition after a long day of teaching but I have actually found that simple does not mean easy.
The light is moving soooo fast these days! I was going to do a self portrait, but there just wasn’t really enough light this afternoon. I set this up on the porch and went back towards the knife….I guess I’m just still divided about it all.
This is a re-do of pieces I worked on from a photo from my trip to Utah 4 years ago and the paintings were done back then too. I’m wondering if anyone would prefer the earlier ones? On Instagram, someone said this one reminded him of Van Gogh!
I actually destroyed the bottom one–it was large, framed, had been in galleries…sometimes I just decide it’s time to move on…
The theme for today was flora and fauna…and so, though I usually wouldn’t put a bird in, I did. It’s kind of hiding though…Can you find it?
After a wonderful yoga class, I went hunting for lunch at Whole Foods, and also maybe something to paint. This little fellow just called out to me. I love the leaves and have always thought about painting one of these. I told the checkout girl to be gentle with it and she placed it in a little bag…sweet. I wanted to make this an easy day. Well, it’s still was not that easy….but I guess that’s the point of why we do it.
