This was fun at the end of the day…I liked playing with these colors.
I don’t know that the studies had any effect on this. Hmm. Do you like this one or the gouache? The thumbnail studies or the bigger “study.” I will need to revisit this.
Just thought I’d play around with different ideas on how to paint darkness in the city, using oils this time. before I attempted the actual piece.
I’m kinda digging the grapes so I bought some new ones because they were shriveling up. I also liked painting the square little vase and decided to try to fit the whole thing in this time so I enlarged my work surface. Also changed the background to a lighter color.
This is the second of the series I’m working on with these white hydrangea.
This is the first in a series. I’ve already done 2 more…and hope to do many more…but we’ll see. May try it indoors as well.
This was a second version of yesterday’s piece. I think I used only natural light for this one and a square format. Which one do you prefer?
PS: I lived through the operation. It hurts, but it’ll get better.
This was the second painting I did at the PACE17–even though I’d gotten up at 5 am, been very active all day, and this was painted around 5 pm in the park at Old Town. Some Asian tourists seemed very interested in appearing in photos with me. They’d kind of sneak up and try to be discreet. It was quite amusing. Not sure why they picked me when there were so many others to choose from.
