I had some dental work today so by the time I got home I wanted to try to complete today’s painting without pressure and chose an exercise I’d done years ago. It was with some satisfaction that I can look back and see a big improvement since then.
The last four. This doesn’t happen in 40 minutes. I took breaks between each one. To fetch the laundry and such. And give the light a chance to move.
I do like the series altogether. It looks kind of abstract and modern. I like the idea of working really fast too. Want to do more of that. I’m already fast. But that’s good in my book. Especially if it’s fast with decisiveness and skill vs. to get it over with.
This was in response to the Daily Paintworks challenge. One object, 10 minutes, 8 times. 10 minutes isn’t long. But it takes time to pick the object, set it up, get the materials ready. I should have started earlier, but it was hot outside and I had to make lunch. By the time I started, after 3 pm, the light was moving really rapidly. By the 4th attempt there was no direct sun. The lemon seems to be growing as I go. I’ll do the other 4 tomorrow.
