I decided to continue on the theme from yesterday, especially since it got a great response on IG. There’s less contrast in this one….more hot harmonious color. And it was hot enough while I painted that I actually had to hit the AC, which I only do when it becomes fairly unbearably hot. Can you feel it?
I spied this set up from the other room–a counter top shelf in my kitchen area opening, with a medley of produce….and maybe I added something or other.
It’s a fittingly gloomy Halloween today, but when I painted these at the beginning of the week, it was a sunny autumn day. Marigolds are so cheerful, and yet considered “the flowers that attract souls of the dead to Day of the Dead celebrations”(right off the tag on the plant)– well, they are pretty attractive. May they warm your day whatever you are celebrating.
This is from Tuesday.
I’m just feelin’ all the rich color of autumn…how inspiring! I honestly did not set out to make this a split complementary painting…but when it was done…classic split complementary! I keep thinking I should paint landscape…so many more opportunities to show and sell…but you don’t really get this kind of intense color outside…and you certainly don’t get to arrange it however you want to, while you listen to internet radio. The marigolds–pure eye candy!
I have attempted this orange vase so many times…this is the happiest version! I looked at this painting and it reminded me that we just had the Equinox…holding on to summer, welcoming autumn…I’ve been color typed as both seasons…I seem to be always in the middle of the labels…Anyway, I love intense color, whatever the season!
Grapes–not for the impatient! Or maybe they are just what the doc ordered?
