All right, so I have not learned my lesson. I like the way the hot pink works here though. I love the shapes of the vase and the shadows on it, and working with yellow in shadow has its challenges too but they’re less challenging than the hot pink in light. I took some artistic license and eliminated the railing or extended it to be a simple (if agitated) purple turquoise backdrop. And there you have it: a dramatic contrast of warms and cools, lights and shadows…all masquerading as a flower painting.
